In defense of WYSIWYG
As much as I respect Ted Nelson for his efforts making the web better, and the gentlemen tweeting below, I disagree here on WYSIWYG. Non-modality and 1-to-1 mapping to result is extremely useful. The only advantage of, say, Markdown is that it might support uninterrupted typing better. In any case, you do not have to print to rip the benefits of WYSIWYG.
Plus, WYSIWYG simulates the paper only is a sense of medium to visualize glyphs. The good part. Other aspects not simulated, it is editable and endless unlike paper.
But I love the “747 as a bus” metaphor. Even though he proceeds being grumpy about other metaphors later in the video :)
